Garden gate's top picks - Garden2Luv - 01-21-2008

What is your favorite top "Fragrant flowers?"

I have to say that Heliotrope is a favorite of mine. I plant it in my flower pot every year to welcome those who come to my front door in the summer. In the spring it's Hyacinth.
I also love Lily of the Valley. That is by my Garage door.
My back yard has the Japanese Wisteria and Lilac bush. Spring sure is a sweet smelling time of the year. Can't wait to get diry!

The smell of lilacs always brings back childhood memories of reading in the shade of my 'secret hideout' in the middle of a clump of purple lilacs. I've planted a Beauty of Moscow lilac outside my living room window. Its blooms are gorgeous, and the scent always makes me feel 12 years old again!

I too have a childhood memory of Lily of the valley. It use to grow under my bedroom window and on nice spring days when my window was open the scent would fill my room. I transplanted some of it to the house I live in now in an area that is surrounded by cement so it won't take over.
